جدير بالذكر أن وزارة الخارجية أصدرت بيانًا رسميًا، بخصوص وفاة الدكتور ضياء العوضي أثناء تواجده في زيارة لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
أكد البيان: “تتابع وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين بالخارج واقعة وفاة المواطن المصري ضياء الدين شلبي محمد العوضي، وذلك عقب تلقي القنصلية العامة لجمهورية مصر العربية في دبي إخطارًا من شرطة دبي بوفاته بأحد فنادق الإمارة”.
وأردف البيان: “وقد وجه الدكتور بدر عبد العاطي، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين بالخارج، القنصلية العامة المصرية في دبي بالتواصل المستمر مع السلطات الإماراتية المختصة للوقوف على ملابسات الواقعة، ومتابعة الإجراءات ذات الصلة، والعمل على سرعة إنهاء الإجراءات اللازمة لنقل الجثمان إلى أرض الوطن”.
وانهت وزارة الخارجية بينها قائلةً: “كما تواصل وزارة الخارجية التنسيق مع أسرة الفقيد ومحامي الأسرة، حيث من المقرر أن يستقبل السفير حداد الجوهرى مساعد وزير الخارجية للشئون القنصلية زوجة المواطن المتوفي وأفراد أسرته بمقر الوزارة لاستكمال الإجراءات القنصلية اللازمة، وتقديم واجب العزاء، والتأكيد على استمرار متابعة هذا الملف حتى الانتهاء من كافة الإجراءات ذات الصلة”.
