الوضع الإنساني المروع في السودان يظهر بشكل يومي، مما يجعل من التعامل بشكل سليم مع اللاجئين السودانيين في مصر أمراً ضرورياً. لا يجب أن يتعرض السودانيون في مصر للتشهير أو الاستهداف بسبب قضايا ليست لهم علاقة بها، مثل ارتفاع الإيجارات أو الأزمات الاقتصادية. فالعديد منهم يعيشون بمصر لأن لديهم أقارب هناك أو لأنهم يسعون للنجاة من آثار الحرب المدمرة في بلادهم.
مصر تحتضن منذ عقود جالية سودانية كبيرة، ولم تؤثر تواجدهم سلبًا على التركيبة الديموغرافية للبلاد، بل كانوا جزءًا من النسيج الاجتماعي بسماحتهم وأصالتهم.
الحوار العام والقوانين المنظمة يجب أن تكون ترحيبية ومنصفة تجاه اللاجئين، وتمنحهم الفرص الضرورية دون تمييز، في حين يجب على السلطات المصرية التصدي لأي تحريض ضد اللاجئين السودانيين وتطبيق القوانين بشكل عادل ومتساوٍ.
