يُعد القلقاس من الأطعمة التي توفر الدفء خلال فصل الشتاء، كما أنه من أبرز أنواع الخضروات الغنية بالفيتامينات والعناصر الغذائية، مما يعزز صحة الجسم ويقوي المناعة، إلى جانب دوره في الوقاية من الأمراض والفيروسات، وإمداد الجسم بالطاقة والنشاط.
وأوضح المهندس أشرف نصير، مدير عام الزراعة بمديرية الزراعة بالشرقية، أن مساحة الأراضي المزروعة بالقلقاس في المحافظة تبلغ 1415 فدانًا، تتركز في قريتي المنير والصحافة بمركز مشتول السوق.
وأشار إلى أن مزارعي هاتين القريتين يولون اهتمامًا خاصًا بزراعة الخضروات، لكون القلقاس محصولًا مربحًا، كما يتم زراعة محاصيل أخرى إلى جانبه، مثل الثوم والذرة، مما يسهم في تعويض المزارعين.
وأضاف نصير أن القلقاس يُعد من الوجبات الشتوية المفضلة لدى المواطنين، لما يحتويه من نشويات تمد الجسم بالطاقة، بالإضافة إلى المعادن المفيدة للصحة العامة، ودوره في تعزيز المناعة والوقاية من السرطان.
